Yesterday saw me wworking for BBC Look North news filming MND sufferer Jason Liversidge abseiling down the Humber Bridge for charity.

Jason, 41, tackled the heights of the world-famous bridge to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association and The Fire Fighters Charity.

He bravely abseiled the North side of the bridge, which stands at a huge 7,283 feet, and landed at Hessle Foreshore to the applause of friends and family.

Jason was diagnosed with MND in 2013 but has refused to let it beat him, by taking on a variety of challenges, including Mount Snowden and the longest zip line in Europe.

Jason chose the charities following an appeal he made for men with Yorkshire accents to donate their voices. Ninety per cent of people with MND lose the ability and recently, Jason’s voice has become weak.

Jason, who also appeared on DIY SOS, has previously said of his battle: “It is killing me and has taken my independence but, while I'm still here, I won’t let it break my spirit and determination.

"It would be real easy to hate my condition and let it consume my life, but that hating it uses is far better spent living life.
